Early Years Foundation Stage
Art is covered within expressive arts and design which is one of the seven areas of the early years foundation stage. Within this children are able to develop their creativity, imagination and have the opportunity to use a range of media and materials.
KS1 and KS2
In addition to the dedicated subject hours, children are provided with the opportunity to experience a range of Art and Design styles, forms and media through cross curricular activities in all year groups.
The children are able to explore ideas and meanings in the work of artists, craftspeople and designers. They learn about the diverse roles and functions of art, craft and design in contemporary and in different times and cultures.
Through the teaching of Art and Design we aim to provide an understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts, recognising the value it has to enrich our personal and public lives.
