Primary School

Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Week beginning 27th April

How are you all?

Do you all remember when we made our wormeries at school? Orange has built a great wormery here for the worms Red has found in the garden.

Can you make your own wormery at home? We would love to see a photo of it.

Here are some top tips for making a wormery.

1)Wormeries need to have a mix of clear layers...gravel, soil, sand, dead leaves and work well in a transparent container, it’s fascinating to see how the worms mix up the layers. (At school we made some in plastic milk cartons cut in half.)

2)Make sure they are damp and kept in a dark place outside protected from rain, when you are not watching them.

3)Only keep your worms in the wormery for a few days before releasing them where you found them.

4)We’d love to see any wormeries that you make or any worms that you find!
