This week was all about fossils. We learnt about how fossils are made and had a go at making our own. We enjoyed lots of time outside, making obstacle courses for our 'the floor is lava' game and going on a spring colour hunt. We invited our families in at the end of the week for a stay and play session. We performed one of our music songs for them and then enjoyed playing with all of our dinosaur enhancements while also tasting the delicious dinosaur cupcakes and fossil biscuits we had made for them.
This week we were lucky enough to have a visit from some Police Officers. We learnt all about the different jobs that they do and how they help keep us safe. We got to see all of the different equipment that they use and also see one of their police cars. We then got to work, taking statements and finger prints and solving crimes around the classroom.
A busy start to Term 5. We have started to learn about dinosaurs. Our role play area has been transformed into a dinosaur investigation centre where we have been digging for dinosaur bones. We have been discovering fossils and reading a dinosaur book for our Drawing Club sessions this week. Following on from this some children wanted to find out more about volcanoes so we have been learning more about these and then made our own volcanoes to go in a dinosaur land. We then did an experiment to see if we could cause a reaction to make the lava flow. One of the children brought in some tadpoles from his Nanny's pond so we have set up a habitat for them and have been learning about the life cycle of a frog.
