Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day

Term 4

We had a great last week of term.  We enjoyed making easter treats, learnt easter songs to perform to our families in our celebration assembly and finished the week with an easter egg hunt (which we had to enjoy inside due to the sudden surprise snow storm!).

This week we have been thinking about the people that are special to us and in particular our mummies.  We have talked about the special things they do for us and have been making cards and gifts for mothering Sunday.  This term we have been learning about jobs and today we were very lucky as one of our mummies came in to talk about her job as a nurse.  We learnt all about the important work she does and also asked some excellent questions.  This made us think about the jobs we might want to do when we are older.

We continued working on our science big question this week and found lots of different ways to make our rockets fly.  We enjoyed showing this to our families at the end of the week when they joined us for our science fair.  We also have been learning about 3D shapes which came in very useful when we were building our rockets.

We started this week with a visit from an astrodrome for the start our our 'Science Week'.  We learnt about the solar system and it kicked started our big question 'how can I make my rocket fly?' which we will be exploring over the next couple of weeks before we invite our parents in for a Science Fair to show them what we have found out.  We started thinking about this question and tested out some fun ideas of how we could make rockets fly.

This week we learnt about Shrove Tuesday.  We thought about what type of things we could give up for Lent before tasting some delicious pancakes.  We explored our outside area and worked in groups to draw and talk about what we could see and how this had changed since our time in the school.  IN maths we have been thinking about ordering numbers up to 10 and thinking about representing different numbers.

We started the new term with our brand new topic 'We're only human' and enjoyed exploring our Doctors role play area.  We are going to be finding out about different jobs this term and are looking forward to having some visitors this term to tell us about their jobs.  In maths we have been exploring length, height and time this week.  We finished the week by taking a visit to the farm to meet the new lambs.  We thought about the questions we wanted to find out about what the job of a farmer was like and had a go at writing these ourselves.
